Deliciously moist milk chocolate loaf cake drizzled with creamy, sweet chocolate glaze and sprinkled with chocolate chips!

Milk Chocolate Loaf Cake | Marsha's Baking Addiction

Today I bring you a recipe for all the chocolate lovers – Milk Chocolate Loaf Cake!

This is my favourite chocolate loaf cake. It is incredibly moist and tender, and almost melt-in-your-mouth. The chocolate glaze is deliciously sweet, and sets on the cake beautifully.

Milk Chocolate Loaf Cake | Marsha's Baking Addiction

This chocolate loaf cake is perfect for any occasion. A definite crowd pleaser!

If you happen to have any left over (…really?) this cake keeps fresh in an airtight container at room temperature or in the fridge for up to a week. Or you can freeze a baked, unfrosted loaf for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight in the fridge and bring to room temperature before serving.

I like to warm my slices up before eating. Makes them deliciously moist, rich, and gooey again…

Milk Chocolate Loaf Cake | Marsha's Baking Addiction

This loaf cake is such an easy, simple recipe to throw together, and it will only take about 20 minutes or less of your time, then an hour in the oven. Time to put the kettle on…

Then let cool completely before frosting, and slicing.

Ingredients

  • 1 and 3/5 cups (200g) self-raising flour
  • 1/4 cup (30g) cocoa powder, sieved
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 and 1/4 cups (250g) granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 5 tablespoons evaporated milk
  • 5 tablespoons water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup (90g) chocolate chips
  • For the Chocolate Glaze
  • 1/4 cup (60g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
  • 2 cups (250g) icing sugar
  • 3 tablespoons hot milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • A handful of chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350F/176C. Spray a 9x5 inch loaf pan with non-stick spray. Set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk the flour, cocoa powder, and salt together until combined.
  3. Using a handheld or stand mixer, beat the butter, and sugar together until combined. Beat in the eggs, milk, water, and vanilla. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and gently mix together until combined.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Bake for 55 - 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the centre comes out clean with only a few small moist crumbs. Make sure to loosely cover the cake with aluminum foil halfway through baking to prevent the top from getting too brown. Allow the cake to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack before removing and frosting.
  6. For the Chocolate Glaze
  7. Using a handheld or stand mixer, beat the butter cocoa powder, icing sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth and is your desired thickness.
  8. Pour or spoon over the cake loaf, and sprinkle with chocolate chips if desired.

Wow! I still can’t get over how incredibly moist and chocolatey this loaf looks. The chocolatey-ness practically jumps through the screen and I can say with certainty that my cup of tea is begging for a date with a slice of this chocolatey goodness. Is there such a thing as Tinder for cakes? 😉
